Sixth practice day: Tyreek Hill leaves practice

On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs conducted their sixth session since padded training camp practices began last Friday.

The big news is that star wide receiver Tyreek Hill left practice about midway through the session with an apparent leg injury, which happened when he pulled up after catching a long pass in a 1-on-1 drill (via ESPN). He walked off the field — where trainers appeared to be looking at his right leg — and then went inside. He did not return (via Kansas City Star). The Chiefs later said it was a hamstring issue.

Defensive end Alex Okafor also left practice early. The Chiefs said that he suffered a calf injury.

No. 2 wide receiver Sammy Watkins has now missed several days of practice (including Thursday) with a groin injury. But wide receiver Byron Pringle and cornerback Antonio Hamilton both returned to the practice field.

Safety Juan Thornhill was at practice again, but was limited to individual work as the team works him back from his ACL surgery.

Left tackle Eric Fisher missed practice — he remains in concussion protocol — as did defensive end Frank Clark, who continues to be sidelined with a stomach virus.

Other players missing practice on Thursday:

Defensive tackle Chris Jones (groin)
Tight end Ricky Seals-Jones (leg)
Tight end Deon Yelder (groin)
Cornerback Lavert Hill (hamstring)
Offensive lineman Martinas Rankin remains on the team’s physically-unable-to-perform list. He also did not practice on Thursday.
